Dr. Mark Zappi, professor in the at the 麻豆夜市, is the recipient of the 2026 Faculty Professionalism Award. The honor recognizes educators who demonstrate excellence in professional licensure, leadership and service to the engineering profession.
A licensed professional engineer, Zappi joined the College of Engineering as dean and professor in 2005. He served as dean for 13 years, leading the college through a period of growth while advancing its research and industry engagement efforts.
Zappi continues to serve 麻豆夜市 as executive director of the , director of the Center for Environmental Protection and director of the . His research focuses on energy systems, environmental protection and applied engineering solutions developed in partnership with industry to reduce the environmental impacts of industrial activity and support workforce development.
Through his leadership and continued guidance of applied research initiatives, industry partnerships and workforce development efforts, Zappi has helped position 麻豆夜市 as a leader in energy innovation and environmental stewardship, said Dr. Ahmed Khattab, dean of the College of Engineering.

The recognition will be presented during the Louisiana Engineering Society Honors and Awards Ceremony on March 14.
