Biography

Claire J. Amy, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Art Education in the School of Visual Arts at the Âé¶¹Ò¹ÊÐ.  Her research interests and studio practices are situated around the lived experience of the arts and arts education.   Dr. Amy studied at Wesleyan College in Macon, GA, earning a BA, having double majored in studio art and art history.  She went on to earn a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) and an EdS degree from Georgia College in Milledgeville, GA.  She taught elementary and high school visual arts in the Middle Georgia area and then earned her PhD in curriculum and instruction from Mercer University in Macon, GA. During her time at Âé¶¹Ò¹ÊÐ, she was named an Outstanding Faculty Advisor in the 2021-2022 academic year and, more recently, the 2023 Leadership Service Eminent Faculty award.  Dr. Amy grew up in Abbeville, LA, and is proud to serve the community that helped shape and foster her love of the arts.
